I visited Kunde for the first time in 1996 while conducting a tour for the National Association of Insurance Women.
Before heading to California, I had been corresponding, on an online chat board with Al, from Kunde. So it was fun to reach the winery and have him conduct a tour for our group.
Kunde was purchased by Louis Kunde, in 1904. Five generations of the Kunde family have made wine at the estate.
The original planting were made by John Drummond plants first vines with imported cuttings of Cabernet Sauvignon from Chateau Margaux and Lafite Rothschild to create Drummond Vineyard in 1879.
